Blog 70: In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity...

Dear Future English 110.01 Students,

Over the course of this class, you will improve upon your writing skills in a variety of ways.  You will blog every day, which is as boring yet easy as it sounds.  You will do in class assignments to help hone in on your research skills, grammar flaws, and integration of quotes.  You will also write two papers, your research paper and your common place paper.  Make sure that you pick a topic that is interesting to you.  Having a topic you enjoy will make your writing easier and your argument more compelling.
Some of my advice to you is as follows.  Make sure you type a blog every night.  It is super easy and is a great way to ensure you receive as many points as necessary.  If you miss one hey it won’t damage your grade that much, but the missed points do add up in the end.  Another thing is to make sure you ask ahead of time what the grading rubric will be for your papers, since you will not receive it in class before you turn your paper in.  It is always nice to know what is expected of you so asking is a great way to figure it out.  I wish I would have asked but being a freshman I am still not as annoying as I should be yet.  Thirdly, I recommend taking advantage of the extra credit opportunities sooner rather than later.  In the beginning of the class you will probably think to yourself, “I doubt I will need that.”  Trust me it never hurts to be prepared, and you will need it.  My last advice to you is to read through some of these letters.  They will give you an idea of what to expect and will help you succeed in this class.
I wish you the best of luck in your upcoming quarter and time spent in the English 110.01 class.  Make the most of your time and manage it wisely.  Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,
Mandy Pyle

Blog 69: Stress is when you wake up screaming, and then realize that you haven't fallen asleep yet....

So this weekend has been full of working.  Worked a good 25 hours at the pizza shop and studied for my upcoming finals.  And yet I still have so much left to do!  The stress of finals week is really hitting me hard this quarter.  I think some of it is the fact that I still have online homework to worry about along with studying for exams in those same classes!  The work load is intense and I am not ready to handle it.  But ready or not, finals week has finally arrived.  I am so tired from work tonight that I do not even know what to talk about or what to do first.  After this blog I need to work on biology and finish my observation paper for my RadSci 200 class.  Plus I want to get a head start on my medical terminology homework and study for both this exam and biology.  Then later in the week I need to put my finishing touches on the two papers do for this class and finish any last minute commenting to make sure I get all 100 comments in.  So much stuff to do and right now all I am feeling is sleep.  I swear everyone thought tonight made the perfect night to eat pizza!  We were slammed and it was extremely hot by the pizza oven cutting pizzas.  So hopefully I get more done than I am in the mood to do, but if not I suppose there is always tomorrow but a head start does sound nice.  Just not nice enough haha!

Blog 67: Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing...

As I am typing this blog, I am enjoying sitting outside in the warm sunshine and fresh air.  It is almost finals week!  I am super excited to finally be done with this quarter and on to summer break!  This blog has almost no point to it other than I am just super excited for it to be summer.  No more classes or exams to worry about!  Plus I will get to see my best friend and sister aka Kylie!!!  And I am sure that during a few of those times, we shall have Skype dates with Jess who is still in Japan.  Right now though, the weight of finals is starting to bare down on my shoulders and the panic is setting in!  I have papers to finish and exams to studying for and of course there is still homework to complete.  But I do not want to think about that right now.  I think about it enough as it is, even to the point where I am not sleeping very well because of it.  So I want to think about summer and what it shall bring me.  Hopefully a nice tan!  And some much needed time with my friends.  Plus at the end of summer break I move into my apartment with Natalie and Amanda! I am excited about that too.  No more commuting an hour for me! Yay!  I want to work as much as possible this summer yet have enough time to see all of my friends.  Sounds like a busy time ahead of me.  Plus I need to work in family time!  So much to do it feels like finals week is finally here!

Blog 66: I wish monkeys could Skype. Maybe one day.

As I sit here typing this blog, I am thinking to myself: I wish I could be doing something else right now.  Like being outside in the sun with my friends doing who cares what.  But no I am stuck in doors doing homework.  Finals week is right around the corner, and with a few papers to type and exams to study for, I am quite ready for this quarter to end.  Do not get me wrong, I have quite enjoyed this quarter and the classes I took.  Pilates was exhilarating and quite a learning experience.  Biology was fun and refreshing from my two previous quarters of chemistry.  Radiologic Sciences was extremely interesting and a great way to remind me of why I desire so deeply to become a radiologist.  Medical terminology was not the most thrilling class since we had exams every other week on over 200 medical terms, but it was interesting and I enjoyed it as well.  And then there was English 110.01.  This class was annoying at times what with blogging every day, but overall it was not a bad class and I enjoyed some aspects of it (although I know for sure that I will never want a career in English).  So all-in-all, this quarter has been decent.  And the fact that I am ready for it to come to an end has no reflection on the actual classes, but rather the fact that summer break is less than two weeks away and I am excited to be free from homework!  Well my ramblings are done for the day, so until next time keep it real.
