If you could be born in a different time period, would you take the opportunity for what it is worth and when would you choose? That question is a prompt I remember answering way back in middle school. And every time I would sit and stare at it and think about what I knew about different time periods and about who I am as a person. And every time I come to the same conclusion; I do not want to be someone different. Think about it for a second and consider what I think about. In the not so distant past, women were considered nothing more than property for a man to own. I am WAY too independent to adhere to that! Plus I enjoy being able to speak my own mind and have my opinions thought about and heard. So going into the past is just not an option for me. So I guess the next option to consider would be the future. But who really knows what that would be like! I mean the world is supposed to end in 2012 if you believe in the Mayan calendar. So when I think about all the great things that could come from the future I again reference who I am as a person. I want to help make some of those things happen; not wait for someone else to do it for me! So I would much rather be in the time period I am now, but if forced to choose, the future seems more appealing to me. Mainly because it is unknown and nothing is written in stone.
