Blog 35: It's best not to think about it, but simply to just do it.

For this blog, I am going to talk about purpose and what mine is for my common place paper.  As most people know already, my paper is going to be about legacy and man’s constant and unrelenting search for immortality.  I want to relate it to college students and keep it as accurate, current, compelling, and interesting as humanly possible.  But going back to the purpose of my paper, what do I want the reader to do after they are done reading it?  I have decided to use the Call-to-Action form when trying to achieve my purpose of my paper.  I am hoping the correct use of words will allow this plan to fall into place.  So far, I plan to end my paper with a few sentences structured and worded like the following.  Many people try to leave some kind of legacy behind, some way to be immortal.  All but a few people have failed to achieve this goal.  So the question to ask yourself is, what will you do?  That is how I plan to end my paper so far.  If anyone has a different suggestion or simply a critique I would greatly appreciate it.  Plus it is a great help to get some more comments in if you are like me and have been slacking on leaving 10 comments each week.  Hopefully this is a good idea. I am not a creative person by far.  Anyways this is my blog for the day.  I would like to thank you for reading and in advance for leaving a comment if you so choose.

  1. I think you should maybe include what you are going to try to do if you plan to leave a legacy. I believe it would make your paper and your voice sound more alive if this is included. I hope this helps!

  2. Thanks! yes that does help a lot actually. I want to include what I want my legacy to be, the only problem is I am not sure. I have a few ideas I need to narrow down. But again thanks!

  3. I like the way you are planning on ending your paper. I think it will really make the reader think about what there legacy would be. What are some of your ideas as to what your legacy would be?

  4. you can talk about how not everyone has a famous legacy, but everyone most likely will be remembered. like whether it be in your hometown marching band, your church youth group, or the dorm you live in, it helps to be remembered for something, even if by a few people.

  5. I think everyone is unique in their own way, and has some trait to be proud of. But it is interesting to think about how you will be remembered and what for. I think this is a good ending to the paper.

  7. As for your title: do you plan on telling people not to think about what they'll do for their legacy and just to do it? That can be a purpose in itself and would make a good conclusion. Just an idea if that's the direction you're thinking of going in.

  8. Thank you everyone for the great ideas! I think my legacy might be (if it happens) finding a cure to cancer or something along those lines since I want to become a radiologist. Although i have personal reason for working on finding a cure to huntington's disease and to raise awareness about it.
