| Sveinung and I at Prom |
How many people can honestly say that they listen to Norwegian rap music? Well I can because my friend currently lives in and is from Norway. He was a foreign exchange student my senior year of high school, and we still talk some today, when both of us can find the time in our busy schedules to set up a Skype date. His name is Sveinung, which he has told me is not a very common name in Norway. Also, you only have to be 18 years old to be considered legally allowed to consume alcohol. When we first Skyped after he returned home, he showed me around his room and some of the things they have there. He also showed me a can of monster, which I thought: what is so interesting about that completely forgetting hey he isn’t in America. Apparently they do not get very many American goods over there seeing as they just started selling monster over there within the past few years.

But, American culture is still somewhat present. They can see American movies and listen to American music. They still retain their own culture though. They are a very socialist country, but he is still planning on attending a private college instead of one provided by his country. He also told me that clothes are a lot more expensive over there than they are here, and you have to like the snow. He is a bit of a smartass, but meeting some of his friends it seems to run in the culture. Or at least this is what he has told me in passing so who knows what the truth is?
