When people ask about my major, I usually think to myself: guess it is time to take a deep breath in before I go into this. My major is Pre-Radiologic Sciences and Technologies through the School of Allied Medicine here at Ohio State. I want to be pre-med but Ohio State does not offer that so this seemed like a good option as well. After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I plan to go on to med school and specialize in Radiology. If you have read my previous blog about my dream then you already know this and should probably not continue to read this blog for it will be repetitive. Radiology has to deal with MRIs, CAT scans, and x-rays. But it also includes Sonography which is the use of ultra sounds, commonly known when viewing a baby during pregnancy. Recently, radiation therapy has been included under Radiology. Radiation therapy is a newer way to fight cancer and is less harmful to the healthy cells in the human body than Chemotherapy. Not only this, but it is also more accurate and becoming more effective. Radiology is a truly fascinating field in medicine, or at least to me it is. With my undergraduate major, I will be able to work as a technician. This means I will be running the tests and working with the machines. An actual radiologist is the person who will then look over the test results and diagnose the patient. I aspire to be a radiologist. It will only take me another 10 years.
Good luck in putting in the time! I recently switched out of a bio-med path because I decided that I didn't want to wait forever to get to my goal career. I suppose if you truly love it you can really achieve it though :)
ReplyDeleteI have thought long and hard about what I have wanted to be. During my entire High School years it probably changed 5-10 times, but by the end of my junior year i was set and I knew what I wanted. i am thankful for that... what did you choose to do instead of bio-med? (i feel like i have asked this before so if i have i am sorry!)
ReplyDeleteI love the title to this blog! It is very creative and fun. It is a good question. I never understood why taxi drivers do not get pulled over often, when they are often the worst drivers. I am also looking into the medical field. I wish you goo luck with your decision on your major and career choices.
ReplyDeleteHahaha thank you but i cannot take credit for the title... it is a riddle that i found online. :) and thank you i wish you luck as well!!
