Blog 12: Rough diamonds may sometimes be mistaken for worthless pebbles...

For this blog, I am going to summarize one of the articles I read that might be of help to my research paper.  The article I read was entitled “The European Union as a Model of International Co-operation in Science, Technology and Sustainable Development.”  The main topic in this article is about how the Europeans may have finally developed a new and efficient way to work on science and technology.  It works so well, that the hope is to use it in co-operation with developing third world countries in hopes of boosting their technology and getting them up to speed with the modern world.  One of the great things about this “European Model” is that it was not developed in just one country.  It originates from Italy, Belgium, France, and Slovenia.  All of these countries have worked together to form this “Model.”  After first, people were skeptical, suspicious even, that such a thing could work between these different countries.  But instead of worrying about different beliefs or anything else that could ruin the research, they used their differences in a positive way.  When you think about it, these different countries each have their own ideas, previous experiences, and unique research facilities.  If this could work outside of the European continent, then the possibilities are endless.  Not only would technology and scientific advancement thrive in this world, but developing countries would receive the help they need to become more developed and modern.  As it stands now, the “European Union” has tried to work with some developing countries but it notes that these tries were not genuine and did not succeed as expected.  But, this is just the beginning and if this is working in the present then there is still hope for the future.
