For my prospectus, I have decided to use “Blog 5: An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind” as my primary source. In this blog, I discussed two different aspects of the show. First, I take a look at the kind of technology that is presented and how feasible the technology would be in our world today. Secondly, I looked at the amount of cooperation that was presented in the episode. We can have all the technology in the world and be able to do a variety of things and yet if we don’t learn to cooperate and work together instead of against each other, the advancement in technology will not do us any good. It is interesting to see that from the past to the present, more countries have come together and become allies. This gives us hope that we will be able to cooperate in the future, no matter what disagreements we may encounter. What I want to research is what technology is feasible. Will there ever be a way for someone who is born blind to be able to see again? As it stands now, some people who are born deaf or with defective hearing are able to hear with the help of such technology as a cochlear implant. The technology focused on in this episode was Geordi’s eyewear. Even though he was born blind, with this equipment he could see. But he could see much more than what a regular human eye sees. He could detect certain signals using radiation, amongst other concepts, to have eyesight. Is this even possible in the world of today? That is what I would like to find out.
I think that this is a very interesting topic and I think that eventually, maynot in the near future, we will come with some type of technology for the blind, so that way they can see.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree. And it is a really interesting topic, if we can allow deaf people to hear then somewhere on the list of things yet to come must be allowing blind people to see. This will probably go along with genetics and working to prevent diseases and disorders. I hope anyways.
