Blog 4: The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.

For the 4^th post in my blog, I watched Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Booby Trap”.  The events in the episode ultimately lead the crew to one choice, taking a leap of faith.  People encounter this on a fairly regular basis.  There are always going to be moments in your life when the odds of success are outweighed by the odds of failure.  In instances such as this, people arrive at two options: they can either sit back and wait to see what the outcome will be or they can continue with their plan no matter what the odds are that it will fail and hope that it succeeds.  If they do opt for the second option, then they are taking a leap of faith and hoping that they are correct no matter what the odds tell them.  Sometimes, a person who has done their research and is extremely certain in their idea does not consider it a problem when the odds are not in their favor.  They look at it as a challenge and something they are confident they can overcome.  Doubt can and most likely will play a role in your decision to take the chance or play it safe.  If you are not a confident person then doubt will easily prey on your thoughts and, depending on the odds, make sure you play it safe.  I myself lack confidence in my ability to socialize with other people.  This is one of the causes of my shyness.  But soon I realize that no matter what outcome happens I am always going to be myself, and I take the leap of faith and become outgoing without a care.
